Our dedicated founder, Hannah Lavery has recently been the recipient of the prestigious Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) in the Young Entrepreneurs category.
The AWIEF Awards happened on December 3, 2020 and celebrated a number of admirable women entrepreneurs and creatives across the African continent. Eight women founders and entrepreneurs were championed for breaking glass ceilings across eight different categories, out of the twenty-four selected as finalists from across the continent, such as Botswana, Cameroun, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania.
The theme of the conference was, Reimagining business and rebuilding better, which was spot on as it relates to the current navigation of the COVID-19 climate for many businesses. The two-day event focussed on exploring post-pandemic recovery for African markets, and to highlight women’s economic empowerment; share entrepreneurship trends; connect and network with trailblazers from all over Africa and beyond.
A highlight of the AWIEF2020 event was the keynote speaker, Mayor of the City of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, noting the value of solidifying business relations between the US and Africa. As well as emphasizing the importance of championing the vital roles of women entrepreneurs in the current economy.
Hannah Lavery was honored as the winner in the Young Entrepreneurs category, and is so proud to have been included in such an amazing event that honored and showcased a group of exceptionally talented female entrepreneurs and innovators from across the continent.
